Florida Auto Insurance Laws

According to Florida law the minimal insurance coverage for your cars with is $10,000 for personal injury protection or PIP and $10,000 for property damage liability or PDL.

Florida is one of a handful of states that has a “no-fault” insurance policy.  In Florida this law refers to medical bills.  Essentially, in a no-fault accident each driver’s medical expenses would be covered by their own policy.  No fault does not apply to property damage which is covered by the at fault party’s insurance plan.  This may be a strong incentive to raise your limits on your policy especially on the property damage side.

When shopping for auto insurance, because of all the variables involved, it is very important to get a quote from as many carriers as possible.  Your credit is a huge variable when it comes to both the amount of the premium and the method or mode that you are allowed to pay with.  Some companies will allow you to pay monthly assuming your credit score is high enough.  Obviously, your driving record is also immensely important.
